31 Bits Jewelry
at the JETTIES

When shopping for jewelry, Jetties Beach probably isn’t the first place that comes to mind. However, in the past few years, The Beach Shop at Jetties has gotten a salty chic makeover.
(Can you say drift wood shelves and teal trim?)

Along with the expected items like beach chairs, sunglasses and sunscreen,
the shop at Jetties carries a variety of unique and stylish jewelry at affordable prices.

Brand new this year is a line of gorgeous handmade bracelets and necklaces incorporating beads crafted out of 100% recycled paper from a company called 31 Bits. All of the jewelry is designed and made by displaced women in Northern Uganda. The company’s mission is to “use fashion and design to empower women to rise above poverty.”

In addition to providing these women a steady income, 31 Bits also works with each of their designers offering finance training, health education, English lessons, vocational training and developing community groups.

Pieces selling at the Jetties Beach Shop range from $10 to $32 for bracelets and necklaces and come in a variety of colors from sea foam blue to coral.
